I am super excited to invite you to join the In The Zone Distance Group! This group is the next step to learning more about distance training and handling with me!!
I have developed a comprehensive and effective training program to teach distance. The goal of our training program is to instill knowledge, confidence and skills to work away from your dog. We make learning to drive into the distance zone positive and fun!
Let’s face it---we are not getting any younger!! Having distance skills will help us to continue to run our dog as we age, get tired or even get hurt! Being able to work away from our dog opens up many handling options for any agility class or venue. Plus, every agility venue has a class that requires distance skills. So having distance skills is important and useful for many reasons!!
Each month, we will work on sequences to teach and refine directionals and discriminations while incorporating more distance into the exercises. We will push you to be more clear, crisp, consistent and calm in your handling. We will focus on when, where and how to cue your dog properly using body language, verbal cues and motion. Emphasis will be on understanding the importance of drawing the dog’s path to direct your dog through sequences/courses while pushing for distance.

This program provides a unique opportunity to get personalized guidance from someone who is training with the same goal in mind and who is committed to your success. In order to demonstrate how I train and troubleshoot distance skills, I will be working alongside you with my dogs to help achieve our goals and dreams of distance work. I will walk you through the steps and progression of teaching distance skills with my young dog Inspire. . I will also share how I polish up my distance skills with my other dogs. My personal goal is to run Inspire (3 years old) in Starter Stakes and JP7 in whichever stakes he qualifies for next year at champs. Inspire is already qualified for Starter Stakes for 2021. (We earned 2 Regular 4 sequence bonuses in August). I am going to start training with this goal in mind NOW, and you will be there learning & training with me! We will work foundation when needed and will progress to bigger sequences and pushing for more distance. You will get a unique insider view into how I break down the skills needed and add distance. You will also see how I then add off course options and push even more for distance.
Group Members Can:
-Submit Training Videos for my critique (up to 6 minutes total per month)
-Submit Trial Runs for my critique ( 4 per month)
-Discuss and comment all you want
How it works
Monthly lessons will be posted each month in a private facebook group. I will provide sequences written in a downloadable document. I will video tape the training of my dogs on these sequences. I will use a variety of video techniques including voiceovers, slow motion and photos of sequences to discuss handling..the good and the bad I will show you what I did correct and what I did wrong and how to troubleshoot. I will discuss what and when to cue your dog. This is very important -the have a very clear, consistent communication system! You can videotape your training sessions and upload them and I will critique them. I will also use various techniques such as doing screen shots for feedback . The videos will help me review your cues-body language, motion, verbal and see if they are clear and consistent. Watching your videos allows me to see what is occurring during the training session and will allow me to coach you and provide important feedback.

Who can join?
Anyone can join to learn, discuss and comment. This is a class to start pushing for more distance. Some foundations skills will be shown. The focus of this group is to push your distance skills a more! If you need foundation distance skills, please sign up for the Drive Into The Distance Zone Learning Series.
ENROLLMENT is only available through August 31st. This group will not open up again until next year. I am keeping the group small so I can give each member individualized attention. You can quit anytime if the program does not work for you.
