NADAC INFO: Written by Sharon Nelson
NON-JUMPING Classes: Veteran Handler: Handlers aged 60 years or older may opt to enter Touch N Go Tunnelers, Hoopers and/or Weavers as a Veteran Handler which allows you to receive 10% more standard course time. This division is for handlers only.
Categories SKILLED OR PROFICIENT: Each class will be split into two categories, Proficient and Skilled.
In the Proficient Category, dogs must jump their measured jump height per the current jump height table (see page 6 for the current table). Runs must be clean, no course faults or time faults. All special award plaques and NATCH plaques are earned in this category.
In the Skilled Category, exhibitors must jump their dog one jump height lower than they are required to jump in the Proficient Category. For example, a dog who measures to jump 20” in the Standard Division, Proficient Category, must jump 16” in the Standard Division, Skilled Category and will receive the benefit of the additional time allotted to the 16” dogs. If this same dog is also a Veteran, handled by a Veteran/Disabled Handler, or Junior Handler, he may enter the Veteran or JH Division and jump another 4” lower. This dog would receive the time allotted to the 16” Vets jumping 12”. Special certificates and medals are earned in this category.
Courses are the same for both categories. When entering a trial, you must indicate what category you are entering for that weekend. You may go back and forth from trial to trial, but not on the same weekend. Points earned to January 1, 2006 are considered Proficient points. They will remain as Proficient points unless a request is made to transfer them to the Skilled Category.
CHANCES CLASS ( written by Sharon Nelson)
Chances Class: This class will be a number course set for Novice, Open and Elite separately with qualifying scores being credited as an extension of the prior Gamblers Class.
There is no more tracking of gamble “types” and you do not have to start at the Novice level. You may enter at the level you were previously seeking points for Gamble certification titles.
The Chances class contains tests of distance, directional, and discrimination skills (referred to as DD&D). The dog and handler will have 40 seconds to complete the numbered course with each course averaging between 10 and 15 obstacles. There will be a handler line defining each of the tests with three tests being included in the Elite Course; two tests in the Open Course; and one test in the Novice Course. Only the dog may cross the handler line(s) defining each test, the handler may not cross or touch the line(s) at any time.
The Chances class is strictly a Pass/Fail recording. Faulting any obstacle on the course, even those not part of a DD&D test, will result in a faulted run and a qualifying score is not awarded. The SCT will be 40 seconds. If the dog does not go overtime, then its time will be recorded as 40 seconds. If the dog goes over time, then the time will be recorded as 41 seconds. Those will be the only two times recorded, 40 or 41. Qualifying ribbons will be awarded, but there will be no placement ribbons.
